October 2015

Kim Hallen, MMaH President

Kim Hallen, MMaH President

Fall has finally arrived! My name is Kim Hallen, and I am excited to be serving the remainder of this term as your MMaH President-elect. I joined MMaH in December of 2011, right before moving to Middletown with my husband Jason and our 6 month old son Jackson. Time has flown by! Jackson is now four, and the latest addition to our family is Julia, who is twenty months. I have been involved with the club since the day I joined because of all of the wonderful activities the club has to offer for myself and my children. Over the past 3 years I have met so many wonderful moms, all from different walks of life, and am so thankful for the relationships that have been formed because of this club. I hope to pass down the same experience as I have had to the future generations of this club.

October brings cooler weather, Halloween, and so many fun fall festivities making it one of my favorite months of the year. We will be starting off this month with our membership meeting at MUMC, in the social hall, on Friday, October 2nd. MUMC’s new pastor, Sarah, will be stopping by to introduce herself to the group. We also have a speaker from the American Cancer Society joining us for a breast cancer awareness presentation. This is one meeting you don’t want to miss!

Please check out the calendar of events for this month. We have trips to Jumbo’s Pumpkin Patch and Summers Farm that offer pumpkins, petting farms, apple cider and outside fall activities for the kids. Mocha moms, craft playdates, lunch outings, library classes, walks and talks, a cookie decorating playdate, and so much more! Our MNO events this month include a movie night, a fondue night and a trip to Markoff’s Haunted Forest. Don’t forget to RSVP under events on BigTent!

Time to clean out your kids’ closets! We will be holding a Fall Kids’ Clothing Exchange on Tuesday, October 27th at Colby’s house. Please bring your items organized by size and gender. Don’t have anything to bring? Come anyway to enjoy good company and conversation. This event is open to everyone, whether you are donating this time or not. All remaining clothes will be donated.

Our annual Halloween party will be held on Thursday, October 29th at MUMC. Come dressed in your Halloween best, moms included!

A huge thank you to all that participated in helping to make the Heritage Festival successful last month! The kids and moms enjoyed throwing fruit snacks and waving to the crowd in the parade. We also collected several names of families interested in joining the club. Community events and our Community Service Projects are a very integral part of our club for many members, myself included. Please participate as much as you can to help us make a difference in the community! This month we will be providing a meal to the Child Advocacy Center of Frederick that services families of abused children. Stay tuned for more details.

Wishing everyone a wonderful month!
